Why fat-burning is actually chronic stress in disguise.

The myth

The cascade

  1. Cortisol

    The catabolic cascade

    Cortisol is released during fat oxidation to provide glucose through gluconeogenesis. This process breaks down muscle protein and suppresses anabolic processes, leading to muscle wasting and metabolic slowdown.

    Chronic cortisol elevation suppresses immune function, making you more susceptible to infections and reducing your body's ability to repair and regenerate tissues.

    The energy illusion
